We work with private companies, municipalities, government agencies, and non-profits to uncover critical information to help you make more informed decisions.

Indigenous Works is a national, not-for-profit Indigenous organization that helps companies develop and execute their Indigenous employment and other workplace inclusion strategies. We worked closely with the client and other stakeholders to refine Indigenous Works’ Seven Stage Partnership Model and develop a new tool for assessing businesses’ commitment to engage: the Partnership Matrix. The Partnership Matrix included benchmarks created to measure organizational competencies, strategies and practices in the TRC’s focus areas of employment, business development, and community development.

The Government of Alberta implemented the Early Learning and Child Care (ELCC) Initiative to better support access to affordable, quality child care spaces. The Government of BC launched the Childcare BC Universal Prototype Sites, which provided funding and operational support to selected licensed child care centres for approximately 18 months and were intended to illustrate what a new, high-quality, affordable, universal child care system may look like for BC families. We designed and implemented large-scale evaluations and SROI impact analyses for the Government of Alberta and the Government of BC.

The Transportation Tomorrow Survey (TTS) is one of the most extensive travel data collection surveys worldwide. We were awarded the contract for this study in 2016, which marked the first time that the full administration of the survey had been turned over to an external vendor. We were again awarded the 2022/23 contract for the same project. The collected data helped local and regional governments and the province and its agencies make transportation planning and investment decisions.

The Alberta Teacher Workload Study was commissioned to define and understand teachers’ workload in Alberta. The study provided stakeholders with a comprehensive assessment of the reality of teachers’ workload in Alberta to help guide future policy discussions and work negotiations. This time use study was conducted in two phases, including a pilot study to design and evaluate the time use log and a full study that included the collection of comprehensive time use data from teachers and administrators over a 10-month period.

The Association of Alberta Sexual Assault Services (AASAS) is a provincial umbrella organization dedicated to creating awareness of sexual abuse and sexual assault issues. New and accurate knowledge about the scope and nature of sexual abuse in Alberta was needed to help develop and promote quality treatment and foster the development of effective prevention initiatives. We conducted a general population survey to produce a statistically reliable estimate of Albertans’ experiences with sexual abuse throughout their lifetimes, with a focus on childhood sexual abuse, while also identifying the nature, extent, and type of sexual abuse experienced.

The Association of British Columbia Marine Industries (ABCMI), with the support of the Ministry of Jobs, Trade and Technology, initiated a Sector Labour Market Partnership (LMP) program to better understand workforce challenges commonly faced by the sector. The research included an assessment of labour supply and demand, sector retention and attraction issues, training and education needs, quantifying and confirming difficult-to-fill positions at present and over the next five-year period, as well as other human resource issues facing the sector. We conducted three comprehensive research phases for the ABCMI to help it better understand numerous factors impacting the sector and provide suggestions on how to mitigate issues that will arise in the future.

Supportive housing provides an opportunity for people to live as independently as possible and be included in the province’s economic and social life. A province-wide evaluation was needed to examine the impacts of provincially-funded supportive housing and homeless rent supplement programs on the quality of life, financial, housing, health, and justice outcomes for at-risk tenants and homeless prevention program recipients. We evaluated the effectiveness of four supportive housing and rent supplement programs for individuals in BC by measuring the outcomes of tenants residing in supportive housing compared to a control group. The social return on investment (SROI) of the program was also assessed using administrative data from numerous provincial departments/agencies.

We have completed a number of projects for the Canadian Apprenticeship Forum (CAF-FCA). Over the course of various projects it became clear that a panel of apprentices and journeypersons would be beneficial and allow CAF-FCA and other apprenticeship stakeholders access to a known group of apprentices and journeypersons who could provide insight on relevant topics.

The include Me! Quality of Life Initiative gathers opinions of persons with developmental disabilities about how they perceive their quality of life. CLBC engaged us to review and finalize the approach to implement and analyze data for the include Me! Quality of Life Initiative. We worked collaboratively with Dr. Robert Schalock and CLBC to revise the My Life: Personal Outcomes Index to the BC community context.

For nearly two decades, BC Ferries has been conducting Customer Satisfaction Tracking (CST) research on select routes. We have worked with BC Ferries to innovate and modernize their previously used processes and mechanisms for assessing customer satisfaction. Our ongoing working relationship with BC Ferries allows us to continually upgrade their customer experience assessment system, supporting a continuous improvement loop based on customer feedback. Our findings are used to inform planning and decision-making surrounding the improvement of service delivery across the organization.

The Canadian Refugee and Humanitarian Resettlement Program operates for those seeking protection from outside Canada. We were twice contracted to conduct the evaluation of the Government Assisted Refugee (GAR), Blended Visa Office Referred (BVOR) programs and the Resettlement Assistance Program (RAP). Our second evaluation also included the Privately Sponsored Refugee (PSR) Program.
