We are pleased to share details about three surveys we are fielding at the moment: the BC Emergency Preparedness Survey, the University of Manitoba Student Outcomes Survey, and the BC Small Business Insurance Survey. Please read below for the details on each.

BC Emergency Preparedness Survey

The B.C. Government has engaged R.A. Malatest & Associates Ltd. to conduct a short survey of B.C. residents (18+) about local hazards and emergency preparedness during the month of March 2026. The survey asks questions about residents’ awareness of potential emergencies that could occur in their communities, and beliefs related to household and community preparedness.

BC residents were randomly selected for participation, with some receiving invitation letters by mail. If you received an invitation in the mail to complete the survey, please visit www.bcpreparedness.malatest.com. The survey should take about 12-15 minutes to complete.

Questions about this research can be directed to Malatest’s toll-free survey helpline at 1-833-224-7237 or via email at PreparednessSurvey@malatest.com. To verify the legitimacy of the survey, please contact PreparedBC@gov.bc.ca.

University of Manitoba Student Outcomes Survey

The University of Manitoba (UM) is committed to building a vibrant and thriving community and has contracted Malatest to complete a student outcomes survey of recent graduates. Results of the survey will be used to help UM continue providing a high-quality educational experience for students.

The survey takes only about 8–12 minutes to complete and will be available online mid-March to mid-July 2026. If you received an email invitation to participate, you can access your survey via the link in your email or by visiting www.umgradsurvey.malatest.com.

If you have any technical issues or questions about the survey, please email umgradsurvey@malatest.com or call Malatest’s toll-free helpline at 1-855-317-4376. If you prefer to do the survey by phone, please call the helpline to speak to an interviewer.

BC Small Business Insurance Survey

The BC Ministry of Finance and Prepared BC have contracted Malatest to complete a survey with small businesses during March 2026. This project involves a survey of employers across a number of industries to collect insights as to what risks and emergencies that they face, and how comfortable employers are in terms of accessing insurance to protect their business against such risks.

The survey runs throughout the month of March (2026), and participants can receive a summary report of key findings, as well as enter a prize draw for a $250 gift card. The survey takes only 8-10 minutes to complete and will help gather insights on business insurance needs and challenges in BC.

Businesses that receive an invitation to complete the survey can login at www.insurancesurvey.malatest.com. If you have any questions about this survey, please feel free to contact insurancesurvey@malatest.com or call the project toll-free helpline at 1-855-290-1132.
