Understanding Yellowknife’s Travel Patterns
The 2025 Yellowknife Household Travel Survey gathers travel information to better understand the relationship between land use, transportation and demographics, and to plan future improvements.
The survey is being undertaken as part of the development of a new Transportation Plan. The survey will help the City of Yellowknife to better understand residents’ travel pattern to meet the community’s current and future needs.
Survey Questions and Outreach
The 2025 Yellowknife Household Travel Survey will gather information about the trips residents made on the previous weekday. We do this by surveying a random sample of households in the City of Yellowknife. Invitations will be mailed to randomly selected households from September to October 2025.
Survey participants are eligible to win some great prizes (a $500 grand prize or a $25 gift card). More information about the project can be found on www.YKtravelsurvey.ca
Malatest’s Role in the Project
Malatest has extensive experience conducting travel surveys. We implement an online survey option utilizing our Triptelligence™ survey platform. This allows participants the flexibility to complete the survey online or by phone, making it more accessible to a broader audience. Our methodology includes sampling from the universe of the City’s households for which a listed telephone number exists, as well as those households that do not have landlines. This process ensures that collected data is representative of Yellowknife’s diverse population.
